BREAKING: Supreme Court Adjourns Judgement Review On Zamfara

The Supreme Court has adjourned hearing on the application of the All Progressive Congress (APC) to review its earlier judgement on the Zamfara state governorship election.

The apex court had been scheduled to hear APC’s motion at a sitting presided by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad, on Tuesday.

The CJN said the lawyer representing a faction of the APC in the state lacked representation as the respondents where not on ground.

Mike Ozekhome (SAN), representing the Kabiru Marafa faction of the party said on Tuesday that the court should not border to hear the application from the APC  represented by Robert Clarke (SAN).

But the panel led by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad, said that ruling on the case would be difficult because 141 to 178 respondents in the application were not served.

 “There is no proof of service of hearing notice on them,” he said.

Recall that there was a leadership tussle within between Senator Kabiru Marafa’s faction of the APC and that of the immediate past governor of the state, Abdul-Aziz Yari, which eventually affected their primaries.

The court had on May 24, 2019, voided all APC candidates in the state on the grounds that proper primaries was not conducted in line with the electoral act, thereby enthroning the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
