Three Chinese expatriates kidnapped at a mining site in Akere village under Ifewara in the Atakunmosa West Local Government Area, Osun State, have been rescued.
The foreigners regain their freedom after spending eight days in captivity
Although the details of how they were rescued were sketchy as at the time of filing this report, the Police Public Relations Officer in Osun State, Mrs Yemisi Opalola, confirmed on Monday night that the Chinese had been rescued.
The expatraites were reported to have been abducted at the mining site after the gunmen had killed the police escort attached to them.
Their abductors had demanded payment of N500m as ransom but it could not be ascertained if ransom was paid and how much.
