BREAKING: Women, Elderly Join Looting Of Food Reserve, Attacks Residence Of Lawmakers In Osun

Looting of government and individual businesses and residences has continued in some parts of Osun State, with residences of prominent lawmakers targeted.

Our correspondent gathered on Saturday that the National Strategic Food Reserve located at Osun-Ankara in Ilesa was looted on Friday evening and thousands of bags of gari were carted away by residents.

A resident told our correspondent that Air Force men from the formation in Ipetu Ijesa got there but could not stop the looting. The military men were said to have pleaded with the people not to torch the place after emptying the three silos.

He said, ” The looters are not hoodlums. They are youths, young women, pregnant women, old men and old women. I don’t know what came over them.

“There was stampede in the area as people struggled to cart away as many as they could grab and two persons were suffocated but they were also resuscitated.”

Another resident said Leventis store in the town was also looted on Saturday, saying nobody was restraining them because they could resort to burning the places down if they were stopped.

In Osogbo, it was gathered that the residence of the Chairman, Senate Committee on Information, Senator Ajibola Basiru, was looted and home appliances stolen.

The Constituency Office of another member of the House of Representatives, Olubukola Oyewo, was also said to have been looted by the youths.

The Constituency Office of a former Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Lasun Yusuf, was also reportedly looted with residents stealing empowerment goods like motorcycle, grinding machines and other things stored there.

Also, the biggest farm in the state, Tuns Farms, owned by Chief Tunde Badmus, was said to have been looted.

One of the activists in the state, Waheed Saka, posted it on his Facebook page, saying that massive looting was ongoing at the farm while appealing to the people to stop the madness.
