Bristow Helicopter Crash: Families Of Victim’s Receives Initial $30, 000 From Carrier

In compliance with the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) directive on compensation for crash victims, authorities of Bristow Helicopters, on Monday, confirmed the initial payment of $30, 000 to those involved in its August 2015 helicopter crash in Lagos.

Recall that four people had lost their lives after the helicopter with 10 passengers and two crew members on board, plunged into the lagoon at the Oworonsoki end of the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos.

The Senior Legal Director (African Region) Bristow Group, Tolu Olubajo also confirmed the return of Sikorsky S-76S to revenue service at the weekend by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).

According to him, the carrier has paid the initial amount to the victim’s families in line with ICAO recommendation of payment of 30 per cent within the first 30 days of the crash, out of the $100, 000 total compensation money for each of the dead victims.
