Buhari, Atiku Pray For Sultan Of Sokoto

President Muhammadu Buhari and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar have issued separate laudatory messages to the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, ahead of his 65th birthday.

Abubakar, who is the 20th Sultan of Sokoto and spiritual leader of Muslims in Nigeria, will clock 65 years on August 24, 2021.

Buhari, in a statement by his senior media assistant, Garba Shehu, prayed for the sultan and commended him for providing guidance and wisdom to Nigerian Muslims for the past 15 years.

According to the president, the sultan had always taken the side of fairness and justice whenever it concerned national issues, thereby promoting harmony, oneness and peaceful co-existence in the country.

Shehu said Buhari prayed for the sultan’s “wellbeing, longer life and more wisdom to keep serving the country and humanity.”

On his part, Atiku prayed that “the Almighty Allah grant you (the sultan) good health and wisdom for continued spiritual leadership for the Muslim faithful in our dear country.”
