President Muhammadu Buhari has been criticized over his opinion piece that was published in The Church Times, where he asked Christians and Muslims in the country to “peacefully coexist” and “flourish together”
President Buhari in the op-ed quoted Amos 3:3 in the Holy Bible, which says “Do two walk together, unless they have agreed to meet?”
The President had described himself as a “descendant of Abraham” just like the late Reverend Samuel Ajayi Crowther, who was widely known as the first African Anglican bishop in Nigeria and who first translated the Bible into the Yoruba language.

Buhari had also warned against the politicization of religion in the country ahead of the 2019 elections.
But reacting to Buhari’s submissions, a former presidential aide, Mr Reno Omokri, described the President as a “hypocrite” who had in 2002 allegedly advised Muslims in the country against voting politicians who don’t uphold the religion of Islam.
