Buhari Commissions NCDMB 17-Storey Building, Pledges More Support To Oil Sector

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday commissioned the Nigerian Content Tower in Bayelsa State.

The 17-story Nigerian Content Tower of the Nigerian Content Development Development and Monitoring Board
was launched by the President for the development of local contents in the oil and gas industry.

The Tower comes with its own 10 Megawatts gas-fired power plant.

The construction of the Tower began in 2015 and was constructed by Megastar Technical & Construction, an indigenous engineering company.

Giving a virtual speech at the commissioning of the Tower, the President expressed delight that the NCDMB building has been delivered by local contractors, supported by local engineers and project consultants.

He said, “We must all be proud that we finished what we started.

“I believe strongly in local production and patronage of our goods and services, as one of the surest ways to empower our citizens and give them viable opportunities to excel in their chosen professions and business endeavours.”

He stated that for the country to grow, companies must produce what enough for local consumption and for exports.

During the launch the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Mele Kyari said the management of the Corporation is very proud to be associated with the Project.

He said, “We will continue to support the management of NCDMB in delivering the value that is required in this country.”

Kyari noted that country is blessed with adequate skills and competencies that can be exported to anywhere in the world.

“With all the efforts of NCDMB in collaboration with NNPC and our partners, we have seen a hub of activities in the West African sub-region where these skills and capacities are transferred,” he said.

With the launch of the building, it is expected that Oil companies will begin to relocate their offices to Bayelsa State so as to move closer to their operations base.

The launch was attended virtually by the former President Goodluck Jonathan; Senate President, Ahmad Lawan; Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed and Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.
