Buhari continues foreign tours, visits Cameroon, Benin Republic

President Muhammadu Buhari will today leave Abuja for Yaounde, Cameroun to continue consultative talks with President Paul Biya and senior government officials to build a more effective regional fighting force against terrorism.
he will as well visit Benin Republic as a continuation of his regional tours aimed forming stronger regional corporation against Boko Haram.
The talks are expected to focus on the full activation and deployment of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MJTF) against Boko Haram, which was established under the auspices of the Lake Chad Basin Commission.

President Buhari will further discuss joint measures to curb terrorism, violent extremism and other cross-border crimes with President Biya and Cameroonian government officials.
President Biya who had since published the itinerary of Buhari during his two-day visit to the country, on his twitter account wrote, “At my prompt, the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, will be visiting Cameroon from 29 to 30 July 2015,”
He then published what he titled: “Programme of the Friendly and Working Visit to Cameroon of H.E. Muhammadu Buhari, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria”.
On Monday, Cameroon Defence Ministry spokesman Colonel Didier Badjeck had confirmed that the country was going to increase its troop increase in the Far North.
President Buhari will be accompanied on the two-day trip by six state governors as well as the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Defence and the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency.

The state governors on the president’s entourage are Alhaji Mohammed Bindow of Adamawa, Mr. Emmanuel Udom of Akwa Ibom, Mr. Samuel Ortom of Benue, Alhaji Kashim Shettima of Borno, Mr. Ben Ayade of Cross River and Mr. Darius Ishaku of Taraba.
President Buhari will also use the opportunity of his visit to Yauonde to meet with Nigerians living in Cameroon.
According to Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President, Mr. Femi Adesina, the president will undertake a day trip to Benin Republic on Saturday for talks with President Boni Yayi to round off diplomatic shuttles to neighbouring countries, which he embarked upon on assumption of office to strengthen regional cooperation against terrorism and make it much harder for Boko Haram to operate across national boundaries.
