Buhari Departs China For Nigeria

After a six-day trip where he participated in the Forum of China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), President Muhammadu Buhari, on Thursday, left China for Nigeria.

This was revealed by the Personal Assistant to the President on New Media, Mr Bashir Ahmad.

“President Muhammadu Buhari departs the Beijing Capital International Airport for Abuja after attending the #FOCAC2018 in Beijing, China,” Ahmed said on his Twitter handle.

Buhari had participated in the Forum alongside over 50 other African leaders.

He secured the support of the Chinese President, Xi Jinping, for the building of the 3,050 megawatts Mambila hydroelectric power project.

“We understand how critical the project is to your country and we will take a serious look at it and ensure that it succeeds, because of its social and economic benefits,” the Chinese leader told Buhari.

President Jinping also pledged 50 million yuan support to Nigeria’s military, as he said “Buhari is as decisive in dealing with terrorism as China.”
