Buhari Did Not Honour Attahiru, Nigerians React To President’s Absence At COAS’ Burial

The absence of President Muhammadu Buhari at the funeral of late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Ibrahim Attahiru and other military officers has drawn reactions from Nigerians on Twitter.

But our correspondent learnt that Buhari was represented at the funeral.

THE WHISTLER earlier reported that a military aircraft which carried Attahiru and other military officers crashed on Friday near the Kaduna International Airport.

Their funeral rites were organized in Abuja on Saturday, based on military schedules.

Reacting to the development, former aide to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, queried why the president could not grace the moment to identify with the family of the deceased like his predecessor.

“This is then President @GEJonathan at the funeral of General Azazi, who died in a helicopter crash on December 15, 2012. He traveled 500 miles to attend this funeral. Yet @MBuhari, who flew 4000 miles to France, could not drive 15 miles to attend Attahiru’s funeral?,” he tweeted.

On his part, Nigerian business man, Adamu Garba stated that he was disappointed not to see Buhari at the event.

Meanwhile, the president, on Friday was briefed about the demise of the security operatives.

He expressed grief at the incident while vowing that they did not die in vain.
