This order comes after 41 persons were reportedly killed on Wednesday by bandits who invaded Birane, an agrarian village in Zurmi Local Government Area of the state.

The state police command spokesman, DSP Muhammad Shehu, had said in a statement that the tragic incident was due to a conflict between hunters, local vigilantes and the said bandits.

Shehu said the minister was expected to assess the situation and immediately report back to the president whom he said condemned the massacre.

The statement read, “The President commiserates with families of victims of the heinous and inhuman attacks on defenceless citizens which left many injured.
