President Buhari sympathized with the Kano State Government and Council of Chiefs over the emir’s death.

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje had appointed Illa as the Emir of Rano after creating new emirates out of the Kano Emirate.

In his condolence message, Buhari said the monarch’s, “words of wisdom, nobility and decency will be sorely missed, especially at a time the government is relying on traditional rulers to sensitize citizens on directives for safety.”
