Buhari: Emir Of Rano Died When Kano Residents Need Enlightenment About COVID-19

President Muhammadu Buhari has mourned the Emir of Rano, Tafida Abubakar Illa, who died at the age of 75 on Saturday.

Buhari said the emir died at a time traditional rulers in Kano are needed to sensitize residents to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) currently ravaging the state.

The Emir of Rano was said to have died at the Nasarawa Specialist Hospital in Kano after a brief illness.

President Buhari sympathized with the Kano State Government and Council of Chiefs over the emir’s death.

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje had appointed Illa as the Emir of Rano after creating new emirates out of the Kano Emirate.

In his condolence message, Buhari said the monarch’s, “words of wisdom, nobility and decency will be sorely missed, especially at a time the government is relying on traditional rulers to sensitize citizens on directives for safety.”

The president urged the family of the late traditional ruler to find solace in his good works and ensure his legacies were carried on.

Buhari prayed to God to forgive Illa’s sins and grant his soul eternal rest.
