Buhari Forwards Nominees For Auditor- General, Chairman FRC

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday forwarded letters to the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, nominating Aghughu Arhotomhenla Adolphus and Barr. Victor Chinemerem Muruako as Auditor General and the Chairman of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission respectively.

The President’s action is pursuant to Section 86(1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).

Until his nomination, Aghughu was acting Auditor-General since the voluntary retirement of Anthony Mkpe Ayine from service after attaining the mandatory retirement age of 60.

The Edo State born Aghughu became an Auditor in the Office of the Auditor-General in 1992 and was promoted to the rank of Director of Audit in January 2016.

He holds a master’s degree in economics; and is a Fellow of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria.

The new Auditor-General designate is also a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management and Associate member of Chartered Institute of Taxation.

Similarly and until his appointment as the Chairman designate of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission, Barr. Victor Chinemerem Muruako, who is from Imo State served as the acting Chairman of the Commission.

The nominees will be ratified by the Upper Chamber upon resumption on February 9.
