The Chief Executive Officer & Director at Financial Derivatives Co. Ltd, Bismarck Jemide Rewane has said that President Muhammadu Buhari has just 12 months for his administration to either succeed or fail.

The economic policy analyst said this while analyzing the new ministerial structure for the next level on the Business morning show on Channels Television.

When asked how much time he thinks the Buhari led administration needs to be given before performance judgement is passed on them, Rewane said, “We don’t have that time, so I will say that by the end of September we must start asking questions. We want to see deliverable we can no longer wait.”

According to Rewane, after a maximum of 12 to 15 months, politicians in the cabinet with eyes on 2023 may become distracted thus, he said, the administration has a gift of the first year to make immediate economic impact.

He, however, noted that this was the reason Buhari needs work harder and demand performance from his appointees because he has to deliver as soon as possible.

Speaking on the impact of the new Buhari’s cabinet on policy, Rewane highlighted that there would be more Forex restriction, economic patriotism, and additional Eurobond borrowing.

He added that weakness in the stock market will continue with more emphasis on infrastructure investment.
