President Muhammadu Buhari, on Wednesday, called Mrs Rebecca Sharibu, mother to Leah Sharibu, the Dapchi schoolgirl being held by terrorist group, Boko Haram.
The President, in a telephone call, assured Mrs Sharibu of his commitment to ensure her daughter is rescued and returned to her safely.
Today I spoke with Mrs Rebecca Sharibu, to reiterate our determination to bring her daughter Leah back home safely. The thoughts & prayers of all Nigerians are with the Sharibu family, & the families of all those still in captivity. We will do everything we can to bring them back

On Saturday, Mrs Sharibu pleaded with the government to meet the demands of her daughter’s abductors and secure her release, according to a report by Channels Television.
In an emotional interaction with journalists, Leah’s mother who spoke in Hausa, called on President Buhari to rescue her daughter who has been in captivity for seven months.
Earlier this month, the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), a faction of Boko Haram holding Leah captive, killed Saifura Ahmed, one of the three humanitarian workers abducted in Rann, Kala Balge Local Government Area of Borno State.
Ahmed had been abducted along with two other aid workers in March.
The terrorists also reportedly threatened to kill Leah and the other aid workers in a month if the government does not meet their demands.
They claimed that they had contacted the government without getting a response.
In August, The Cable had released an audio recording of Sharibu, pleading with the President Buhari not to forget her in the hands of her captors.
Sharibu, a Christian girl, was abducted in February, alongside more than 118 others.
ISWAP released all the girls who were captured, except five who reportedly died in detention, but refused to release Sharibu for refusing to renounce her faith.
