Buhari Presides Over FEC Meeting Ahead Of South Africa Trip

President Muhammadu Buhari, on Wednesday, presided over the Federal Executive Council (FEC) Meeting at the Council Chambers, State House Abuja.

The meeting comes ahead of his trip to South Africa over the recent Xenophobia attack on Nigerians living in the country.

Present at the meeting were the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, and Acting Head of Service of the Federation, Folasade Yemi-Esan.

Three governors, seven cabinet Ministers and three other members of his government will accompany the president on the three-day visit.   

Highlights of the visit will include a Town Hall Meeting with the Nigerian Community; a Meeting of the South Africa/Nigeria Bi-National Commission; and a Nigeria—SA Business Forum.

“While in South Africa, the Nigerian leader will hold a town hall meeting with Nigerians living in the country, with a view to sharing in their experiences and reassuring them of Nigerian government’s commitment to working for the protection of their lives and property and promoting peaceful co-existence.

“President Buhari and his host will preside over the South Africa/Nigeria Bi-National Commission, during which a progress report will be presented. At the end of the meeting, both leaders will sign a joint communiqué.

“The President and his delegation including Nigerian business representatives will also participate at a South Africa-Nigeria Business Forum with their host counterparts,” the statement by his media team read.
