Buhari To Inaugurate Cabinet Tomorrow

Following the screening of his ministerial nominees by the Nigerian Senate, President Muhammadu Buhari is set to inaugurate his cabinet tomorrow, Wednesday.

Presidency sources who spoke to THE WHISTLER said the nominees will be allocated their portfolios tomorrow at the Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting.

Recall that the president last Tuesday, submitted a list of 43 appointees to the upper chamber for screening and confirmation.

The Red Chambers kicked off the screening last Wednesday and is expected to round off the exercise today.

Many had criticised the senate screening as not thorough enough, largely because the nominees were not assigned portfolios before their names were sent to the senate for confirmation.

Buhari’s ministerial list of 43 appointees is larger than his previous term which had 36 ministers.

Recall that his list supersedes that of his predecessor, Goodluck Jonathan who had 42 ministers.

According to the constitution, the president must include a member from each of the country’s 36 states.
