Buhari To Receive Certificate Of Incorporation For NNPC LTD Today

President Muhammadu Buhari will on Friday (Today) receive the certificate of incorporation for the Nigerian National Petroluem Corporation LTD, THE WHISTLER can authoritatively report.

The NNPC LTD was incorporated by the Corporate Affairs Commission on September 22 after it received application for its registration from the Federal Government.

The incorporation of the NNPC LTD was based on the implementation of the Petroleum Industry Act which was signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari on 16th August, 2021.

Section 53(1) of the Petroleum Industry Act 2021, requires the Minister of Petroleum Resources to cause for the incorporation of the NNPC Limited within six months of the enactment of the PIA in consultation with the Minister of Finance on the nominal shares of the Company.

The Registrar-General of the Corporate Affairs Commission, Alhaji Garba Abubakar, had confirmed the incorporation of the NNPC last week while speaking at the Quarterly meeting of Heads of Agencies in the Federal Ministry of Industry Trade and Investment.

Abubakar further stated that the registration was completed same day it was received after fulfilling all requirements set for the incorporation of the NNPC LIMITED.

The board of the newly incorporated NNPC LTD will be chaired by Senator Ifeanyi Ararume.

Ararume was a former Senator representing Imo North at the 8th Nigerian National Assembly.

His appointment was made by President Muhammadu Buhari who is the Minister of Petroleum Resources and it is in consonance with Section 53(1) of the Petroleum Industry Act.

The President also retained Mele Kolo Kyari and Umar I. Ajiya as Chief Executive Officer, and Chief Financial Officer, respectively.

Other Board Members are; Dr Tajudeen Umar (North East), Mrs Lami O. Ahmed (North Central), Mallam Mohammed Lawal (North West), Senator Margaret Chuba Okadigbo (South East), Barrister Constance Harry Marshal (South South), and Chief Pius Akinyelure (South West).
