#BuhariCanNoLongerTalk Trends On Twitter

Following the alleged ill health of President Muhammadu Buhari, Nigerians have taken to the social media to react to the continued silence of the president.

Recall, that Buhari last week, embarked on a 10-day medical vacation in the United Kingdom, handing over his duties to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

President Buhari’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina in an interview with CNBC Africa, on Thursday night, stressed that nobody can compel the President to talk, as “he still has his rights”.

Mr. Adesina further debunked reports that Buhari was in the hospital, reiterating that he is well and fine.

“President Muhammadu Buhari is not ill, and not on admission in any hospital in London,” he said.

“The President is in London on vacation. He is not in any hospital, and he is not ill. When he was travelling last week, the statement we put out, was that he was going on vacation, and during the vacation he would do routine medical check-up, and nothing has changed from what we pushed out last week. If anybody has fed something else into the rumour mill, that is just what it is – rumour.

“The fact that he is a President, he still has his rights. Compelling him to come out and talk will be infringing on his rights.

“The President will talk if he wishes to. If he doesn’t wish to, nobody will compel him to talk. The truth is that the President is on vacation, and he has given a date on which he will return to work,” the President’s Spokesman added.

Nigerians have now taken to twitter using the hashtag #BuhariCanNoLongerTalk, to demand that Buhari come out publicly and speak in order to debunk the rumours.
