Burkina Faso Records First Coronavirus Death In Sub-Saharan Africa

Burkina Faso has announced its first Coronavirus death, and which is the first recorded COVID-19 death in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Burkina’s national coordinator for the virus, Martial Ouedraogo, while announcing the development on Wednesday said, “We recorded the death overnight of a female patient aged 62, who suffered from diabetes and was in intensive care.”

He added that, “the number of patients (in Burkina Faso) stands at 27, comprising 15 women and 12 men.”

Meanwhile, as of Wednesday, South Africa had recorded a total of 116 cases of Coronavirus, the country’s health authorities said.
