CAF Player Of The Year: Moses, Mane, Salah Top List

Super Eagles and Chelsea star Victor Moses has been shortlisted in the top 11 of the 2017 Aiteo Confederation of African Football (CAF) Footballer of the Year Awards.

CAF revealed the 11-man list on its official Twitter handle on Monday.

Also on the list are Egypt’s Mohamed Salah, Senegal’s duo Sadio Mané and Keita Balde, Naby Keita of Guinea, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Gabon, Karim El Ahmadi of Morocco and Cameroon’s Vincent Aboubakar.

Nigeria’s senior team coach Gernot Rohr was also nominated for the CAF Best Coach award, alongside Hector Cuper (Egypt), Hugo Broos (Cameroon), L’Hussein Amoutta (Wydad Athletic Club) and Mihayo Kazembe (TP Mazembe).

On the women’s category, Nigeria’s striker Asisat Oshoala will be hoping to defend her African Women’s Footballer of the Year crown, but faces stiff competition from Chrestina Kgatlana (South Africa), Gabrielle Aboudi Onguene (Cameroon), Rutendo Makore (Zimbabwe) and Tabitha Chawinga (Malawi).

Also, the Super Eagles were nominated for the National Team of the year, while Nigeria Women’s U-20 team, the Falconets, are in the running for Women’s National Team of the Year.

The Awards Ceremony will take place on Thursday, 4 January 2018 in Accra, Ghana.
