Convener of ‘Bring Back Our Girls’ and EndSARS activist, Aisha Yesufu, has caused a stir on Twitter after expressing support for same-sex marriage in Nigeria.
The activist disclosed in a tweet on Monday that same-sex marriage is “not a new discovery” in Nigeria, saying same-sex romance had existed in the country for more than a century.

Yesufu noted that one need not like another person’s choice of sexuality as it is an individual’s personal choice.
She said everyone deserved to be given “the right to practice your sexuality.
She added:
“Homosexuality was freely practiced in Nigeria for hundreds of years and I witnessed same-sex marriages in the 80s. So calm down, it is not a new discovery.”
Her statement however did not resonate well with some Nigerians.
While some were bewildered by her opinions, others raised concern at the level of things she would do or say to remain relevant.
