Cameroon Deports 300 Nigerian Refugees

About one hundred people escaping fighting between the Nigerian army and the Boko Haram militants flee into Cameroon on an average day, according to the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR).

At least 12,000 other Nigerian refugees will soon be repatriated, according to the divisional officer of the Cameroonian border town of Fotokol, Mr. Mamoudu Umaru.

The Boko Haram insurgency in north-eastern Nigeria has driven thousands from their homes and also displaced many Cameroonians within the country.

By December 2015, a total of 18,600 Nigerian refugees had already been repatriated back home from Cameroon.
