Child Assault: Baba Ijesha Granted Bail After Pleading Not Guilty To 6-Count Charges

Nigerian actor, Baba Ijesha, has been granted a N2 million bail by a Special Offences and Domestic Violence Court sitting in the Ikeja, Lagos.

THE WHISTLER earlier reported that the police in Lagos State had on April 22 arrested Baba Ijesha on the grounds that the Yoruba film actor allegedly molested a 14-year-old girl.

Upon arraignment on Thursday, the actor told the court he was not guilty of the six-count charge preferred against him by the prosecution.

His lead counsel, Babatunde Ogala SAN, argued that his bail was based on his fundamental right as a Nigerian.

Subsequently, the court held that the bail application was granted but the accused must provide N2 million and two sureties, one of which must be a Lagos resident while the other must be a lawyer.

The matter was adjourned to 26, 27, and 28, July for the continuation of trial.
