CHINA OPEN: Djokovic Outclass Nadal to Claim 8th Title of The Season

World number one, Novak Djokovic, defeated Rafael Nadal 6-2, 6-2, to claim his sixth China Open title and improve his record at the tournament to 29-0.

Djokovic had seven aces to none for his Spanish rival, and saved both break points, with Nadal not being able to break the Serb at 3-2 in the opening set to level the game.

After the game, Djokovic who won his eight title of the year, said; “The score line, especially in the first set, doesn’t indicate the real battle that we had on the court.

“I think I maintained that level of aggressivity and strength and power in my shots, and eventually I knew that he’s going to make mistakes and he’s going to give me shorter balls so I can dominate the rallies, which happened.”

Nadal, 29, said Djokovic is “having one of the most memorable seasons in the history of our sport”.

The Spaniard who was pleased with his performance this week, talked of his recent deep in form.

He said; “I have been improving in every single match. All matches are good practice for me. It’s good energy for starting next season stronger.”

Nadal has lost 15 of his past 22 matches against Djokovic after winning 16 of their first 23 meetings.

Meanwhile, in the women’s singles final, Wimbledon runner-up, Muguruza of Spain defeated Timea Bacsinszky 7-5 6-4 in a hard-fought victory for her second WTA title, which moved her up to fourth in the world rankings.
