Citizens Express Good Wishes As African Leader Contracts Coronavirus

Prayers and well wishes trailed the Facebook announcement by the Prime Minister of Guinea Bissau, Nuno Gomes Nabiam, that he had been infected with Covid-19.

“I have tested positive for the new coronavirus, I am at home and I feel good,” he stated on Wednesday.

He also announced that many government appointees were infected adding that citizens should stay at home and comply with all preventive measures.

“Both I, as well as a large part of the members of the Internal Committee were contaminated.

“This is the risk we took from the beginning to face this battle against covid-19, I was always in the forefront together with everyone, including health staff who face risks of infection,” he said.

But in response, prayers and goodwill were rendered by many to his post, calling for his wellness and that of all those infected with covid-19.
