Civil War Bomb Found Unexploded In Oji River

Unexploded ordnance (bomb) used during the Civil War has been successfully evacuated from Oji River community by the Enugu State Police Command.

This was according to spokesperson of the command, Ebere Amaraizu, who made the disclosure in a statement on Thursday.

Amaraizu revealed that the evacuation exercise occurred on July 21.

“The Explosive Ordinance Unit of the Enugu State Police Command has successfully evacuated an object suspected to be unexploded ordnance (bomb) which was used during the civil war.

“The object was found at a farmland called Amaetiti in Oji River community within Oji River Local Government Area,’’ said Amaraizu.

The police spokesperson further urged dwellers to not hesitate to report any such discoveries to the command’s control room via phone numbers: 08032003702, 08075390883, 08086671202 and 08098880172.

Oji River area of the state served as battle field during the January 1970 Nigeria – Biafra Civil War.
