CNN Reporter Slams Buhari…Calls Dapchi Girls Kidnap ‘National Disgrace’

Isha Sesay, a reporter with the Cable News Network (CNN), has slammed President Muhammadu Buhari over the kidnap of 110 schoolgirls from the Government Girls Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe State.

Sesay said it was an understatement for President Buhari to describe the schoolgirls kidnap as a “national disaster“.

The British-Sierra Leonean journalist said it was rather a “national disgrace“ that more girls could be kidnapped by the Boko Haram insurgents despite the Chibok experience where over 200 schoolgirls were abducted from their hostels by the dreaded sect in April 2014.

She said on Twitter: “Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari calls abduction of Dapchi Girls “a national disaster.” That’s an understatement – it’s a national disgrace. More girls taken – again?.

“I want to live in a world where the lives of the Dapchi Girls are held to be just as important as those of kids in other places. A world where everyone is talking about schoolgirls being stolen by terrorists, Is that too much to ask? ”

Asked if President Buhari`s narrative of “national disaster“ wasn’t damning enough, Sesay responded: “Nope! “National disaster” doesn’t cut it. I’m taking “national disgrace” which implies blame and responsibility. “

Meanwhile, about half of the 110 kidnapped Dapchi schoolgirls are said to have been taken to Niger Republic by Boko Haram insurgents, according to Daily Times.
