‘Come Out Publicly’ – Malami Challenges Anyone Alleging AGF Received N2bn Recovered Loot

The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami,SAN, while denying ever recieving N 2 billion from recovered funds, challenged anyone making such accusation against him or his office to show proof of it.

In a statement issued by his Spokesperson, Dr. Umar Jibrilu Gwandu, he said Malami has “challenge any person who has any evidence of such payments to either him or his office” to come with proof publicly.

Gwandu explained that for the avoidance of doubt, agreements on what recovered loots should be channeled towards are already sealed before the monies are repatriated to Nigeria.

He said the clean records of the current administration of President Muhammadu Buhari has won the hearts of international partners with regards to repatriation of loots.

“Prior to the repatriation of all the recovered assets Nigeria and relevant nations have been signed memorandum of understanding as to what the monies will be put to and the government has been working in compliance with all the provisions of multi-national agreements reached.

“It was on the bases of the application of the said funds in line with the agreements that Nigeria earns reputation among international committee of nations which translated into further recoveries,” the statement read.

Furthermore, he noted that all recovered funds go to an account domiciled with the Central Bank of Nigeria.

“The Federal Government has a designated account at the Central Bank of Nigeria for all recovered assets.

” Abubakar Malami has neither as a person nor as the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, does not in any way receives any funds from the recovered assets,” he said.
