Mourinho had after Wednesday’s 1-0 win over Benfica made it clear that he had opted for a conservative approach because his side are missing key players.

The Portuguese coach insisted that he wasn’t making excuses, a charge he believe other coaches in the Premier League are guilty of.

“I never speak about injuries. Other managers, they cry, they cry, they cry when a player is injured,” Mourinho who had two spells at Chelsea said after the win in Benfica.

“If I wanted to moan and others I could cry like the others for five minutes; Ibrahimovic, Fellaini, Pogba, Rojo.”

Asked what Mourinho’s comments prompted his statement, Conte said: “If this is for me my answer is this, he has to think of his team and look at himself not the others.”

“A lot of times Mourinho has to see what happened in Chelsea. Also last season. He has to look at his team,” the Blues manager added.

48-year-old Conte struggled to a 3-3 draw at Wednesday`s Champions league match against AS Roma, a match he played without N’Golo Kante, Victor Moses and Danny Drinkwater, while Alvaro Morata has just returned to fitness.

Chelsea take on the Red Devils at Stamford Bridge on November 5, with their relationship having already been tested by a post-match incident in the same fixture last season, when Mourinho suggested Conte’s celebrations on the touchline had been disrespectful to the former Chelsea manager.
