Coronavirus: Adamawa Govt Imposes 14-Day Lockdown

The Adamawa State Government has declared a 14-day lockdown across the state,as part of measures geared towards curbing the spread of Coronavirus.

The order takes effect from Tuesday Midnight of March 31st.

This was made known in a statement issued on Monday, by Humwashi Wonosikou, Chief Press Secretary to the Adamawa Governor.

According to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, the decision was a harsh one but was needed so as to save lives.

“Inter State travel restriction is also imposed as inter State and international borders with Cameron are to remain strong shut during this period.

“The ban also affects tricycle, taxis and bus operators throughout the state.

“Social activities such as clubbing and joints are banned, markets are also hereby restricted, except those selling food items, pharmaceuticals, filling stations; while Banks are to provide skeletal services,” the statement read.

Furthermore, the governor said that the lockdown had to be imposed after workers on grade 1-14 failed to comply with a stay-at-home directive earlier given.

“We all have to forgo something for the good of Adamawa state,” Governor Fintiri said.
