Coronavirus: China Says 1,716 Medical Officials Infected, 6 Dead 

The health agency of China has said that over one thousand five hundred health workers are currently infected with the coronavirus while six of them have died.

The deputy director of the National Health Commission, Zeng Yixin said this at a press briefing on Friday.

“By February 11th, there are 1716 confirmed cases within medical workers, which is 3.8 percent of the confirmed cases within China; six of them unfortunately died, which is 0.4 percent of death cases in China,” Yixin said.

Yixin also said that the organization would adopt new approaches to containing the menace, adding that aside laboratory testings, they would strictly monitor symptoms and complaints of people.

“The new clinical diagnosis is beneficial to reaching the goal of ‘Diagnose Earlier, Treat Earlier, Isolate Earlier’.

“Especially, it can provide standardized treatment to the infected, improve the treatment success and decrease case fatality rate,”  Zeng added.

Furthermore, the deputy director said that about 60,000 Chinese have been infected with over 530 cases in other countries.

The World Health Organization had also code named the SARS-like virus – COVID-19, stressing that the virus was now a global emergency.
