Coronavirus: Russia, Hong Kong Places Travel Restrictions To China

The governments of Russia and Hongkong have placed travel restrictions to and from China, following the outbreak of the coronavirus.

Hong Kong announced the closure of half its border crossings with China, including all rail links; Flights will also be slashed in half, according to the Washington post.

Also, three far-eastern Russian regions have reportedly said they would close their borders until Feb. 7.

THE WHISTLER had reported that the virus, which is like the Severe Acute Respiratory syndrome (SARS), is contacted through human-to-human transmission and has infected more than 1000 people in China and the death toll has risen to 106.

Recall that the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) had urged its citizens to be wary of travelling to China.

Furthermore, the US, France, South Korea, Japan, Nepal, Thailand, Cambodia, Singapore, Vietnam, Taiwan, Canada, Sri Lanka, and Germany have confirmed the virus infection on some of its citizens.

But the World Health Organisation (WHO) had said an animal could also be the source of the virus, adding that countries should create safety awareness over it.
