Coronavirus Spreads As Israel Confirms First Case

An Israeli citizen who just returned to the country from Japan has tested positive to the novel coronavirus, according to Israel’s health ministry.

The health ministry said on Friday that eleven travelers(of which one has tested positive) had been on a 14-day quarantine aboard a Diamond Princess ship around Japan’s coast; and were kept for diagnosis at Sheba Medical center, Tel Aviv.

“An examination at the Health Ministry’s main laboratory found that one of the passengers tested positive.

“The lab is continuing to confirm the test results; the patient is in quarantine and under supervision and this is not an infection that occurred in Israel,” the health ministry said in a statement.

THE WHISTLER reported that the number of the coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in South Korea has spiked to 204 in 12 days.

Recall that the SARs-like virus which broke out from Wuhan, China has also infected over 60,000, as nations around the world are putting measures in place to contain the menace.

The menace is also affecting international relations and diplomacy as numerous nations have evacuated their citizens from China.

Furthermore, the World Health Organization (WHO) had urged people to protect themselves by thoroughly washing the hands, covering the nose when sneezing or coughing as well as boiling meats properly.

WHO had declared the virus a ‘global emergency’.

The virus is said to be transmitted between humans and from animals to humans.
