Aghughu at the event also gave out certificates to the 1st batch of the Trained OAGF forensic Auditors.

He said, “In the next one week the trainees will be on the field to carryout minimum of 5 forensic audits in MDAs in the country, that is the significance of their training.”

He said the forensic auditing laboratory will enhance the operations of the country’s criminal justice system.

Aghughu noted that the newly established lab will assist in the analysis of criminal evidence and the prosecution of criminals.

He said, “It is unique because the trend today is that even when you do the normal auditing, when you want to get an answer with evidence that will even stand court prosecution, you look in the direction of forensic auditing.

“It is not only just audit evidence for the National Assembly, it is equally evidence for prosecution of culprits.”

Speaking on the relevance of the 21 trained forensic auditors, he stated that the auditors will enable the growth of the office as their newly acquired skill set meets a crucial need in the society.

While congratulating the trainees on the completion of the three weeks programme, the AGF also urged them to be law abiding and adherent to the principles guiding the agency.

The Information, Communications and Technology consultant, OAGF, Dr Jimson Olufuye said that the newly commissioned lab was equipped with advanced ICT tools to enable the forensic auditors effectively carryout their assigned jobs.
