Court Adjourns Badeh’s Trial Till March 16

A Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned the trial of a former Defence Chief, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh, till March 16.

At the resumed hearing on Monday, counsel to Badeh, Mr Akinjide Olujimi, informed the court that he had just been hired by the accused person and would need time to be properly briefed before he could defend his client.

The court heeded to his plea, adjourning the case to enable him study the additional proof of evidence served on them by the prosecution.

Badeh’s counsel had also filed a bail application, but the prosecuting counsel, Mr Rotimi Jacobs, objected, urging the court to turn down the application.

After listening to both arguments, the trial judge, Justice Okon Abang, turned down the bail application.

He thereafter adjourned the case till March 16th to enable the defence study the additional proof of evidence.

The former Defence Chief is accused of allegedly using a huge sum of money to purchase choice houses in Abuja. He also allegedly used six million naira to renovate his son’s house, which he purchased for 260 million Naira in Abuja between January and December 2013, and 876 million Naira to build a shopping mall in Abuja.
