Court Adjourns Saraki, Ekweremadu Forgery Case

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has adjourned the forgery trial of Senate President Bukola Saraki, his deputy Ike Ekweremadu and 6 others to Sept. 28.

The case was stalled due to the court’s vacation that commenced today (Monday).

At the resumed trial, the duo, alongside the outgoing clerk to the National Assembly, Alhaji Salisu Maikasuwa, and his deputy, Mr. Ben Efeturi, were informed that the Justice Yusuf Hallilu had already proceeded on vacation and the trial will begin on September 28.

They are accused of illegally altering the Senate’s Standing Rule used in electing them into office in June 2015.

They were arraigned before Justice Yusuf on June 27, but they pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.
