Court Grants Shehu Sani N10m Bail

Former Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Shehu Sani has been granted bail in the sum of N10 million naira by Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court, Abuja.

Sani was earlier today arraigned on a two-count charge of bribery brought against him by the Economic and Financial Commission (EFCC).

He pleaded not guilty when the counts were read to him.

The former lawmaker was arraigned on two counts of bribery and advance fee fraud.

Upon pleading not guilty, counsel to Senator Sani, A. Ibrahim, asked the court to grant his client bail.

But the lead counsel to the EFCC, Abbah Muhammed, said he was just served the bail application notice a while ago.

After listening to the statements of both lawyers, Justice Ekwo stepped down the hearing of the bail application to enable the prosecutor study it.
