Court Orders Arrest Of Ex-NIA DG, Wife

The Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the arrest of former National Intelligence Agency (NIA) Director-General, Ayo Oke and his wife, Folasade.

Recall that EFCC Prosecutor, Rotimi Oyedepo had on Wednesday applied to the trial Judge, Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke, asking for the issuance of a bench warrant for the arrest of the duo over a four-count charge against them.

The EFCC had charged the couple before the court in connection with the sums of $43,449,947, £27,800 and N23,218,000 (totalling N13bn) it recovered from Flat 7B Osborne Towers, Ikoyi, Lagos linked to them.

The judge, however, adjourned the case to Thursday, February 7, for the EFCC to move its oral application seeking a bench warrant against Amb. Oke and his wife.

But in his ruling today, Justice C.J Aneke said, “I have carefully considered the application for the arrest of the persons mentioned herein and I am convinced beyond reasonable doubt that the said application is meritorious. Accordingly, the application is hereby granted as prayed.

“I hereby order that Ambassador Ayodele Oke and his wife, Folashade Oke, be arrested anywhere they are sighted in the world.”
