Court Restrains Amb. Desmond Akawor As Chairman Of Rivers PDP

A Federal High Court sitting in Owerri, the Imo State Capital, has granted an exparte order restraining Ambassador Desmond Akawor from parading himself as the State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State.

The exparte order was issued Wednesday by Justice T.G Ringim, following a suit filed by seven aggrieved members of the party.

The aggrieved members are: Nnah Nyemezu, Nduka Precious Eddeh, Mike Jaja, Gift Amadi, Igweburike Mbah, Ideh Ukarioniso Prosper and Andy Umetor.

They had approached the court to challenge the processes which led to the emergence of Ambassador Akawor as the Chairman of the party in Rivers State and other executives during the congresses.

The exparte order also restrained the PDP and Independent National Electoral Commission from recognizing Amb Desmond Akawor as Chairman of Rivers State PDP, pending the determination of the motion on notice.
