COVID-19: Enugu Fire Service Begins Phase 4 Decontamination Of Public Places

The Enugu State Fire Service, Monday, commenced the fourth phase of decontamination of public places in an effort to curtail the spread of the coronavirus pandemic as well as other communicable diseases in the state.

The state chief fire officer, Engr Okwudiri Ohaa, who is leading the team, said the exercises would see to the decontamination of public places using the service’s newly-procured automated mini-trucks, among other equipment.

He said, “Some of the public places disinfected are Kenyatta market, 153 customary courts across the 17 local government areas of the state, in addition to high courts and magistrates’ courts that had been disinfected earlier. We reassure residents of the state government’s commitment to continue with the exercise in schools, hospitals, churches, among other public places.”

Meanwhile, as at July 25, 2020, Enugu State recorded 15 new cases of the pandemic, tallying the total confirmed Covid-19 cases in the state to 741. Our correspondent gathered that those receiving treatment are 299, the number of those discharged, 425, while 17 persons had died as a result of the virus in the state,

The state health commissioner, Dr Obi Emmaneul Ikechukwu, while urging the residents of the state to stay safe by observing preventive measures, further called on them to contact the health authorities on 08182555550 or 09022333833 or the NCDC number 080097000010 when they experience the symptoms or see any person with the signs.
