Italy’s Democratic Party leader, Nicola Zingaretti has confirmed that he had tested positive for coronavirus.
He made the disclosure on Saturday in a tweet.
He also said he was in self-isolation and was well, adding that all persons he had met in recent time were followed up for checks.
Since the outbreak of the SARs- like virus in Wuhan China, Italy (about 232)and Iran(145)have recorded the second and third highest number of deaths from the menace, trailing China ( with over 3,000 deaths).
This is apart from over 80,000 infections in about 80 countries across the globe.
The World Health Organization (WHO) had warned nations that the novel virus was a global emergency, adding that preventive measures should be taken.
