The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) on Thursday, disclosed that about seven African countries were set to start running coronavirus antibody tests on their citizens.
Antibodies are proteins that fight infections in the human system.
The test is carried out to ascertain the extent of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Head of the Africans CDC, John Nkengasong, confirmed this in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
“Liberia, Sierra Leone, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Cameroon, Nigeria, Morocco are the first set of countries that committed to it,” he said.
Nkengasong also said that “Africa has so far conducted 9.4 million coronavirus tests, a 10 per cent increase over last week.”
Daily Mail UK reports that Western governments are using antibody tests to find out how many of their citizens have been infected, so as to guide them in reopening their economies.
As of Thursday, August 13, the confirmed Covid-19 cases on ithe continent stood at over one million.
Health authorities like the World Health Organisation, have, among other things, stated that strict compliance with the public health advisory on Covid-19, will be a win-win against the pandemic.
