This was disclosed in a letter from the Embassy of Nigeria, Bangkok, signed by Nicholas P. Uhomoibhi.

The letter stated that the development was due to measures that are beyond the control of the Covid-19 local organizing team in Nigeria.

The embassy said 240,000 naira was the cost of accomodation for 16 days, while 57,600 naira would be the cost for feeding.

“Kindly be informed that those rates were negotiated in Nigeria and that the Embassy has been instructed not to airlift any evacuee who fails to pay the above fee,” it added.
