COVID-19: Over 1 Million Mexicans Lost Their Jobs In 4 Months

About 1,113,677 Mexicans lost their tax-paying jobs between March and June.

The Mexican Social Security Institute(IMSS), disclosed this in its report published on Sunday.

It stressed that 83,311 jobs were lost in June alone.

Reuters also reports that employers cut 344,526 jobs in May, 555,247 in April, and another 130,593 in March, among workers registered with the IMSS.

This brought the total job loss since the first Coronavirus case (in the country) was confirmed in February, to over a million.

The Coronavirus lockdown has negatively impacted on nations.

However, some governments through palliatives and the enactment of new economic policies, are trying to alleviate the sufferings.

According to Reuters, “slightly more than half of Mexico’s workforce is thought to be informal.”
