COVID-19: Plateau Shuts Borders With Other States

In a bid to prevent the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19)from the state, the Plateau State government has directed immediate closure of all entry and exit points in the state.

The closure order, which was conveyed by the Secretary to the State Government, Danladi Atu in a briefing on state’s response to the ravaging COVID-19, said the order took effect from Thursday 2nd of April 2020.

According to Atu, there would be no exit or entry into the state except those on essential services who would have to be cleared by security agencies and after preliminary tests by health workers.

He revealed that the measure was to enable government intensify efforts at fighting the scourge and avoid any case in the state since the state had not recorded any confirmed case of the virus.

Several donations in cash, food items and medical equipments, the government spokesman disclosed, have been pouring in with a leading financial institution donating N28.5million while the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) had offered hand sanitizers and enlightenment materials as its contributions to the fight against the virus.
