Non-Saudis To Benefit Too

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has announced a 500,000 riyals (equivalent of N50,916,734) grant to families of health workers who died from Covid-19.

It said the grant covered families of medical practitioners from all nationalities.

Saudi’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, seen by THE WHISTLER.

“500 thousand Riyals (more than $133 thousand) for families of Saudis and Non-Saudis working in the health sector who sacrificed their lives due to the pandemic,” the statement partly read.

It also stated that the development “includes health workers in the public and private sectors.”

“Effective from the first case registered of Covid-19 in Saudi Arabia on 2020/03/02,” it added.

The country’s Covid-19 status had risen to 346,357 cases and 5,346 deaths, as of the time of this report.

Recall that the World Health Organisation (WHO) had lauded health sector officials for playing a critical role in the fight against the global pandemic.
