COVID-19: Tanzania Receives Shipment Of Madagascar Herbal Remedy Against WHO’s Advice

Tanzania has received its first shipment of Madagascar’s herbal remedy for Covid-19.

This is coming after the World Health Organization (WHO) had warned that the native drug should not be used until it has undergone clinical trials.

But Hassan Abas, Tanzanian spokesman, confirmed the delivery on Friday, adding that the herbal mixture would help remedy the covid-19 situation in the country.

“Tanzania today received the support of coronavirus medicine from Madagascar,” he said.

Madagascar’s President, Andry Rajoelina, had claimed that the local content could cure covid-19 and had in the past weeks tried to convince the African Union on its efficacy.

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) had also denied endorsing the herbal remedy, adding that it had to be scientifically proven before the product could be approved for use among member states.
