COVID-19: Unvaccinated Civil Servants, Others Stopped From Entering FCT Secretariat

Civil servants and the general public without proof of vaccination and negative PCR tests were on Wednesday barred from government buildings in Abuja.

Recall that the Presidential Steering Committee on covid-19 had directed that Civil servants from Dec 1 wont be able to access their offices without proof of vaccination.

The chairman of the committee and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, said the decision was taken in the best interest of Nigerians and to prevent the spread of the pandemic in the country.

”Federal Government employees shall be required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination, or present a negative COVID-19 PCR test result done within 72 hours to gain access to their offices in all locations within Nigeria and our Missions”.

The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria had however asked the Federal Government to extend the deadline for the compulsory vaccination of civil servants till March next year,

But this plea seemed to have been ignored as workers were seen clustered at the gate of different goverment offices in Abuja and only allowed to enter after showing proof of vacination.
