Dalung Gives NFF Condition For Foreign Coach

The minister, who gave the directive during a meeting between the Spots ministry and the football body held at the National Stadium, Abuja on Tuesday, added that the Amaju Pinnick led board must be ready to pay the tactician.

The sports ministry boss also gave the NFF four weeks to prepare and submit a technical report on the cause of the Super Eagles failure to qualify for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations billed for Gabon.

Speaking to newsmen after the meeting, Dalung said: “The technical team of the NFF must be prepared to discharge its responsibilities. They must go back and maintain a strong cohesion in fashioning the way forward. Internal wrangling and lack of cohesion were some of the reasons why we failed to qualify.

“The issue of foreign coach was debated extensively but it was still referred to the technical committee alongside the NFF to show cause why we have to hire a foreign coach, if it is viable or not and where we will get the funds to pay him. They are expected to submit that report in four weeks.”

The Minister also dismissed rumours that the football body have already appointed a foreign coach for the Super Eagles.

“This meeting was not an inquiry neither was it a court. The issue which you are raising is strange to me. Nobody mentioned it here,” he added.
